For
elderly or wheel-chair bound individuals who cannot use public
transport, MTA New York City Transit administers the paratransit
service for New York City, called Access-A-Ride (AAR). The service is
shared-ride, door-to-door or feeder service. Health aides and/or
guests who accompany the individual are also accommodated.
You
have to apply in person. Applicants and recertifying customers are
required to go to an assessment center, as part of the Access-A-Ride
(AAR) eligibility determination process. To schedule an appointment,
and to have the application package mailed to you, call:
